Abstract
Traditional Games Workshop to Strengthen Gross Motor Skills in 4-Year-Old Children at I.E. No. 288, Rioja Throughout history, traditional games have been an essential pillar in the cultural and social life of communities. These pastimes, passed down from parents to children, are part of our heritage and create a bond that connects past and present generations. At their core, these games reflect the creativity, imagination, and joy that characterize human beings. The main objective was to implement traditional game workshops to strengthen the gross motor skills of four-year-old children at Initial Educational Institution No. 288 in Rioja. The methodology in this study was framed within an applied perspective, as it sought to implement a traditional games workshop to strengthen gross motor skills in children. Moreover, this was an explanatory study aiming to identify and understand how the implementation of these traditional games contributed to the development of motor skills in that age group. Regarding the design, a pre-experimental approach was chosen, focusing on a single group of 20 children selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, due to participant accessibility, the availability of the educational setting, and the workshop’s relevance for the children involved. The results, after the intervention, the post-test showed notable improvements: the very low level decreased to 10% and the low level of 45% went to 5%, while the average level was reduced to 20%. The most significant changes occurred in the higher ranges: 50% reached a high level and 15% reached a very high level, demonstrating substantial progress in gross motor skills. The researchers concluded that implementing these traditional game workshops significantly strengthened the gross motor skills of the four-year-old children at Initial Educational Institution No. 288 in Rioja.
