Abstract
Improvement of the potable water supply system in the Pamashto - Lamas - San Martin locality. In Peru, the shortage of drinking water is a national concern. The lack of adequate infrastructure, unequal distribution of water resources, low conduction capacity, inadequate maintenance, and projects that have already reached the end of their useful life for which they were designed, have generated serious problems in various regions of the country, causing intermittent shortages of drinking water. The town of Pamashto faces this problem due to the poor quality of its distribution network. A recent study evaluated the potable water supply in the area, revealing positive results due to the favorable topography. A population of 3,696 inhabitants is projected for 2043, with an average demand of 5.6518 Lts/sec. The gauging flow (25.00 Lts/sec) exceeds the projected demand, ensuring a continuous supply. In addition, it was determined that the water supply of the aquifer is 25 Lts/sec, equivalent to 788,400 m³ per year, while the annual demand of the population is 178,235 m³. This creates a positive water balance with a surplus of 610,165 m³ per year, guaranteeing water availability throughout the year. However, the need to improve the distribution networks and expand the reservoir from 96.21 m³ to 160 m³ was identified to avoid future water shortage problems. The hydraulic simulation showed that 86.72% of the velocities are within the acceptable range, and 83.02% of the nodes comply with the pressure regulations.
