Abstract
Anemia and maternal perinatal morbidity and mortality in pregnant women treated at Hospital II-1 Rioja, San Martín 2023. Objective: To determine the relationship between anemia and maternal perinatal morbidity and mortality in pregnant women treated at Hospital II-1 Rioja, San Martín 2023. This research is basic, descriptive correlational cross-sectional, with a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 80 pregnant women diagnosed with anemia treated at Hospital II-1 Rioja. The data collection technique was documentary analysis and the instrument was the data collection form. Results: the frequency of anemia levels in pregnant women was 48.8% in moderate anemia, 43.8% mild anemia and 7.5% severe anemia. The most frequent maternal morbidities were threatened preterm delivery, urinary tract infection and postpartum hemorrhage, while the most common perinatal morbidities were low birth weight, small for gestational age and prematurity. A positive correlation was shown between threatened preterm delivery ( x^2=7.365 ; p = 0.025), urinary tract infection ( x^2=6.924 ; p = 0.021) and low birth weight ( x^2=6.568 ; p = 0.037) with statistical significance. Likewise, a positive correlation was found between anemia and maternal-perinatal morbidity and mortality, with a statistical significance of 0.043 and 0.039. It is concluded that there is a relationship between anemia and both maternal and perinatal complications. The need for a comprehensive approach to the management of anemia during pregnancy is evident in order to improve both maternal and perinatal health.
