Abstract
Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de la medicina complementaria en adultos mayores del distrito de Cacatachi 2024
En el presente estudio se determinaron los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de la medicina complementaria en adultos mayores del distrito de Cacatachi 2024, el cual buscó comprender cómo este grupo etario perciben y utilizan las terapias alternativas. La metodología empleada fue de enfoque cuantitativo, tipología básica, de diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. La población y la muestra se encontró conformada por el 100% de la población estudiada que asciende a 56 adultos mayores del distrito de Cacatachi, los datos fueron recopilados empleando la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario el cual permitió arribar a las siguientes conclusiones: Los resultados revelaron información importante sobre los conocimiento, actitudes y prácticas hacia la medicina complementaria. Se observó que un 62.50% de los participantes tienen un conocimiento malo sobre esta área. Además, el 80.36% de ellos mostraron una actitud mala hacia la medicina complementaria. En cuanto a las prácticas, un 23.21% de las personas consultadas han recurrido a la quiropráctica, mientras que el 64.29% indicó que utilizaron la medicina complementaria debido a problemas de salud. Por otro lado, un 30.36% consideró que la medicina complementaria es más efectiva que otros tratamientos, y un 75.00% la utilizó como parte del proceso de diagnóstico de enfermedades. En conclusión: la mayoría de los adultos mayores en Cacatachi presentaron un conocimiento limitado y actitudes negativas hacia la medicina complementaria, a pesar de que una parte considerable recurre a estas prácticas por motivos de salud. Además, existe un uso significativo de estas terapias como apoyo en diagnósticos, lo que resalta la necesidad de fomentar la educación sobre sus beneficios y riesgos para promover decisiones informadas en esta población.
Knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding complementary medicine among older adults in the district of Cacatachi 2024 The present study determined the knowledge, attitudes and practices of complementary medicine in elderly adults in the district of Cacatachi 2024, which aimed to understand how this age group perceives and uses alternative therapies. It was observed that 62.50% of the participants have poor knowledge in this area. In addition, 80.36% of them showed a bad attitude towards complementary medicine. Regarding practices, 23.21% of the people consulted have resorted to chiropractic, while 64.29% indicated that they used complementary medicine due to health problems. On the other hand, 30.36% considered complementary medicine to be more effective than other treatments, and 75.00% used it as part of the process of diagnosing illnesses. In conclusion: the majority of older adults in Cacatachi presented limited knowledge and negative attitudes towards complementary medicine, despite the fact that a considerable part resorts to these practices for health reasons. In addition, there is a significant use of these therapies as diagnostic support, which highlights the need to promote education about their benefits and risks to promote informed decisions in this population.
