Abstract
Irrational beliefs and emotional self-regulation in graduates of Human Medicine from a public university. The purpose of the study was to Establish the relationship between irrational beliefs and emotional self-regulation in graduates of Human Medicine from a public university. It was a basic, non-experimental, correlational study, considering that the variables can be linked based on the results. The population consisted of 40 graduates of Human Medicine from the district of Morales, with the entire student population forming the sample. Surveys were chosen as the means of collecting information. Two instruments were considered: the irrational beliefs questionnaire consisting of 46 items on a Likert scale distributed in 8 dimensions and the emotional self-regulation scale with 27 statements, in 7 dimensions. The information collected was analyzed and found that the degree of irrational beliefs obtained in public university graduates is medium (50.00%), low (27.50%) and high (22.50%) to a lesser extent. Furthermore, it was found that the distribution of the level of emotional self-regulation presented by Human Medicine graduates from a public university is medium (57.50%), low (25.00%), and less frequently high (17.50%). It is concluded that irrational beliefs and emotional self-regulation in Human Medicine graduates from a public university are significantly related. It is noted that they present a similar behavior of both variables, that is, the greater the control of irrational thoughts, the greater the control of emotional self-regulation. The calculated chi-square was 53.562 and the tabulated chi-square with 4 degrees of freedom was 9.49.
