Abstract
Analysis of the deterioration of the pavement that affects the passability of the section PE-5N (Juan Guerra) – Buenos Aires – department of San Martín As an introduction, this thesis evaluates the level of trafficability of the PE-5N (Juan Guerra) - Buenos Aires highway in the department of San Martin. The current state of the road infrastructure is analyzed to determine its capacity to support vehicular traffic. The main objective is to determine the level of trafficability of the road, identifying its critical points and proposing improvements to optimize its functionality, and the specific objectives are to evaluate the condition of the road surface, identify risks to road safety and propose maintenance solutions. The study is located on the PE-5N (Juan Guerra) - Buenos Aires road, in the province of San Martin and Picota, belonging to the department of San Martin and the Evaluation Period of the research project was carried out during 7 months between April and November 2024. The main procedure used was the visual inspection method to evaluate the condition of the road. Data on the condition of the surface, the presence of potholes, cracks and other damages were recognized. The results showed a deficient level of trafficability in several sections of the road. Critical points with high presence of potholes, cracks were identified. Conclusions: The PE-5N (Juan Guerra) - Buenos Aires road has a poor level of trafficability that affects road safety and transportation efficiency. It is recommended that preventive maintenance work be carried out, the current drainage system be evaluated, and road user education be provided.
