Fondo Editorial, 2012) Iglesias Rengifo, Flor Evelyn; Marca Guerra, Vivian Pamela; Farro Roque, Maria ElenaThis study was undertaken to determine the occupational risk factors related to sharps injuries in nursing technicians Support Hospital Santa Gema in Yurimaguas, January to December 201O. Quantítative approach was used; the sample was 40 nursing technicians Support Hospital Santa Gema, chosen by random sampling. Data were collected using a validated by experts. Data were analyzed using the statistical package SPSS (17.0) for Windows Vista virtual environment 2007, we used the nonparametric statistical test or chi-square distribution-free (X2C), and a <0.05. Univariate analysis was to describe the occupational risk factors. 100% (40 practica! nurses) Support Hospital Santa Gema in Yurimaguas, January to December 2010, 57.5% (23) nur:sing technicians were aged between 20-44 years, 97.5 (39) reported having a working time more than one year, 90% (36) reported having used gloves, 29.5% (9) belonged to the emergency service, 60% (24) worked in the morning shift, 67.5% (27) indicated as puncture site to the fingers , 100% (40) were trained in biosecurity, 50% (20) showed shear type injury, 50% (20) stated that the glass bulbs are often incurred the injuries, 50% (20) indicated as type of activity to prepare the medicine. Hypothesis was accepted by relating welfare service and puncture wounds (p = 13 516) constituting the sole Occupational Risk Factor is related to Sharps Injuries while Factors: Age, Working Time, Use of Gloves and Zone puncture were not related. On the other hand the factor: Biosafety Training is not possible to evaluate its relationship with stab wound, that showed a single category.
